Seems like a dream come true for all professional et wannbe DJs out there as Alesis, a company that specializes in manufacturing professional sound equipment, has released a mixer that your regular iPod can be connected to. The iMultiMix 8 USB is a compact fully loaded tabletop mixer with a recorder that features 100 studio grade 28–bit digital effects and a built–in limiter to avoid distortion in recordings. It is also equipped with an integrated iPod dock with a control wheel transport controls for direct–to–iPod recording.
This is Alesis' first attempt with a system that's designed to be integrated with an iPod. It fuses together professional quality mixing and is also equipped with a 3 band EQ per channel. Aside from that the iMultiMix 8 USB has guitar/line inputs and iPod recording combined in one very sleek package.
After you complete recording your set you can simply transfer the files directly to your PC using the integrated software via USB. The best part is that there is no need for any drivers of any kind to be installed. All channels are recorded down to CD Quality stereo 44.1 or 48kHz. The iMultiMix 8 USB is also equipped to play music directly from your iPod and you can also mix live performances. The mixer also comes with a copy of Steinberg's Cubase LE recording software.
The iMultiMix 8 USB uses 48V phantom power and will be out later this year in the US for around Rs. 21, 400 ($500).
