The biggest problem I found with HD camcorders is that they're not as flexible with standard video players as their standard definition counterpart, but not anymore.
Sony has just launched its latest DVDirect video recorder, VRD-MC5, which supports burning HD (1080i) video from your camcorders directly on to regular DVDs that you can playback on most Blu-Ray players including the PlayStation 3.
The video is stored in AVCHD video format, which compresses the video to 95 minutes of playback time on a standard DVD recordable. You can also store your still photos and standard definition videos on DVDs.
“With our newest DVDirect model, users can transfer their high-definition videos to convenient DVDs for enjoying and sharing with family and friends,” said Robert DeMoulin, marketing manager for branded storage products in Sony Electronics’ IT Products Division. “We enhanced personalization and connectivity to make capturing and saving digital memories simple and fun.”
Seems like a handy thing to have around the house, considering it records from TV as well. Plus the $230 price tag makes it an excellent deal. Get all the dope on it right here.
