I don’t know about you guys, but I sure as hell didn’t get enough of BioShock even after the 20 plus hours I spent in Rapture. There’s a rumor floating through the halls of Rapture now, suggesting that the follow up to the game might be a prequel, which will see the light of day sometime in 2009. Next Generation reports:
"According to internet murmurings, a BioShock follow-up is currently in pre-production and set for a 2009 release, backing up Take-Two’s previous comments that the title could develop into a franchise that sees a new release every two years.
Graphic design and plot are reportedly 2K’s primary focuses at the moment, and the story will likely be set before the events that took place in the original game, telling of how Rapture, a 1940s underwater utopian society, fell prey to greed and vice."
Seeing the dystopia in its full glory is something I’d never dreamed of; I really hope that this rumor’s true!
As if that’s not one heck of a rumor, we’ve got another one for you that’ll make your plasmid enhanced brain spasm with excitement – there’s also word of a movie based on BioShock being in pre-production! Joystiq.com reports:
"A reliable source within a major film production company has told Joystiq that the two have been getting along famously, with a movie adaptation of 2K's successful franchise already being discussed by the Big Daddies internally.
The studio hopes to bring the fallen aquatic utopia of Rapture to celluloid life through extensive use of green screen technology, an approach not dissimilar to Legendary Pictures' interpretation of 300."
