Wii 'Victim's' Family Sues Radio Station
By: Avinash Bali   |   Jan 23, 2007
Last week Jennifer Strange, 28, became a household name after she died of suspected water intoxication in an attempt to win a Wii for her sons. Jennifer was taking part in a "Hold your Wee for a Wii" contest organized by Sacramento Radio Station, KDND-FM where she along with twenty people were made to drink gallons of water without being allowed to go to the toilet.

After consuming nearly two gallons of water she started complaining of headaches after which she was found dead at her house several hours later. The radio station subsequently fired 10 people associated with the show, including the DJs but that isn't enough for her grieving family who now want the Federal Communications Commission to terminate the station's license.

Here's what their lawyer, Roger Dreyer, wrote in a letter to the FCC chairman, Kevin J. Martin, "Despite having a distended abdomen and complaining of significant symptoms of a headache and lightheadedness, the radio station allowed her to leave the premises without any type of assistance or concern. Ms. Strange went home, slipped into a coma and died. We believe the conduct of the radio management and the on-air staff mandates that your agency terminate the radio station's license and discipline its ownership for their wanton disregard of the safety of the participants in this contest."
