Nintendo is already selling an MP3 player for the DS in Japan under the name of Play Yan. This is what they plan on shipping to Europe as well; only it won’t have video capabilities. Here’s what a Nintendo spokesperson had to say, “It’s just like the Play Yan, where you insert an SD card into a GBA cart-sized adaptor. That is then inserted into either your DS, DS Lite, GBA SP or GB Micro - turn it on and away you go.”
Nintendo hasn’t released an official word (or an official name) till now, but here’s what we know, courtesy of gizmodo.com:
- Music is stored on SD cards.
- There is a choice of different skins, including a Mario one.
- All the relevant information is shown via the interface.
- The unit itself includes a headphone port, which is handy for GBA SP owners;
- It is currently planned for release on 8th October
- It will retail for 29.99 Euros
