The Nvidia 7950 GX2 is about to get some younger brothers and sisters. Dailytech has reported that Nvidia will soon release three new products. They are launching new mid-range and entry-level offerings in the form of the GeForce 7100GS, 7900GS and 7950GT.
The entry level card in this range is the new Geforce 7100GS. This card is based on the G72 architecture and retains the turbocache feature of the 6200 TC card it replaces. It will have 128 MB of onboard memory with a 64 bit memory interface and compatibility with DDR2 memory. It supports both Nvidia SLI and Purevideo technologies along with 4 pixel shader units.
The midlevel market is targeted with the entry of the 7900 GS. Previously only available as an OEM offering this budget card has a 450 MHz core clock accompanied by a 1.32 memory clock. The card has 256 MB onboard memory and is equipped with 20 pixel shader units.
The upper range of the market is served by the Geforce 7950 GT. This premium offering has a 550 MHz core clock and a 1.4 Ghz memory clock. It replaces the previous offering i.e. was the 7900 GT. Memory has now effectively doubled to 512 with the unit stacking in 24 pixel shader units. All previous options such as HDCP compliance and dual dual-link DVI outputs are present too.
These cards are supposed to be available in the first week of September. The costs of the GeForce 7100GS, 7900GS and 7950GT cards have been worked out at $100, $199 and $299 respectively.
