Intel, Reliance form Alliance

Intel, the world's leading processor and chipset developer in partnership Reliance Communications Ventures Limited has decided to strengthen its presence and to increase Internet penetration in tier II and tier III towns across the country. The tie-up speaks and seeks to offer instant and uninterrupted Internet connectivity with Intel-powered PCs as Intel customers will be offered Reliance wireless products at no additional cost. The joint promotion for kick starting this campaign will begin in 11 cities across Karnataka. This is due to the belief that Karnataka which has a Reliance subscriber base of 1.2 million out of which 350,000 are data services users, will prove an ideal test ground for the companies to launch their joint program. The cities/towns in Karnataka that will be covered by the joint promotion program include Belgaum, Bellary, Bhatkal, Chitradurga, Devanagere, Dharwad, Gulbarga, Hospet, Karwar, Mandya and Shimoga. Though the wireless device will be free, its not all free as Rs 1,200 will be charged towards activation. This new partnership with Reliance for Intel is part of the company's "World Ahead Program" that was unveiled by Intel CEO, Paul Otellini, during his recent visit to the country.
