MTV networks and international game publisher Nexon, have joined hands to create a new premium user experience for MTVN'S youth community site, Neopets, and promoting Nexon's casual multiplayer online game titles in North America via its portfolio of television and online brands. The first two titles to be marketed under the alliance will be 'Maple Story' and 'Kart Rider'.
Nexon and MTVN's Neopets aim to create a new user experience for MTVN's Neopets in North America and territories throughout Asia and Europe. The duo says the service will enhance the current Neopets world, known as Neopia, by offering users the ability to purchase virtual items for customization and personalization, in addition to those currently available on the site. Nexon will also provide marketing and promotional support in Asia across its games portal for the new Neopets services.
Steve Youngwood, Executive Vice President, Digital Media, MTVN Kids and Family Group said, "This partnership between MTVN opens an important creative exchange for us with one of the leaders in online casual MMOGs in Asia and the world, and is a significant move for us in our growth as a multi-platform global entertainment company. Nexon is the gold standard among game developers in a leading games market, and is a company that shares our vision and has the resources and the reach to provide quality and engaging entertainment to young people everywhere."
In North America, MTV will promote Nexon multiplayer online games across MTVN television and online brands including MTV, MTV2, MTV U, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, Neopets, Shockwave.com, Addictinggames.com, Gametrailers.com and XFire. The partnership will also allow Nexon to create and develop MTV Networks' branded items within their games.
