OLPC/Microsoft In Chats For Dual-Boot Version

The OLPC project that recently lost Intel’s support seems to have gained a new partner- Microsoft. According to the report by Cnet news, it seems Nicholas Negroponte has been in talks with Microsoft to work on a version of OLPC that will be capable of booting either Linux or Microsoft Windows. It would work in a manner similar to Apple’s boot camp and would offer consumers a different variety of choice.
A move like this will immediately address a few problems. Though the OLPC has been universally hailed for its excellent design, it has on the other hand faced massive criticism for failing to provide any kind of “after sales support”. In case of a problem , the governments purchasing the XO will have to support the device themselves. Another problem is that of Linux. While the OS is robust and powerful, Windows is the more universally accepted OS and will therefore find itself being supported more easily.
