Are we running out of design ideas to make LCD TVs more attractive to consumers who still can’t let go of their boxy old CRTs? Nakamichi seems to think so and have launched a new series of LCD TVs designed after the traditional Japanese robe – the Kimono. The Kimono series of LCD TVs pay tribute to the Japanese piece of clothing by mimicking the overlapping fold of the robe in the lower part of the TV. But am I the only one to think that this looks quite similar to the Bordeaux series of LCD TVs from Samsung?
Tradition aside, the Kimono series of LCD TVs offer a great set of features, complete with full HD (1080p) support, HDMI, a DVB-T tuner and also an integrated DVD player and FM radio! The TV also pumps out 5.1 channels that make the TV speakers a center channel when connected to a speaker set. View your favorite photos on memory cards by sticking them into the 6-in-1 card reader or hook up an external drive using the USB 2.0 port. The Kimono series of LCD TVs are available in 42-inch and 47-inch sizes.
There’s no pricing information yet, but is Nakamichi, so expect the EMIs to be as high as double your salary, if you’re considering buying a Kimono LCD TV.
