Samsung has just announced another phone, but instead of making even skinnier phones, they've put a new method of control in the phone.
Doing away with traditional joysticks or 5-way navigation pads, Samsung's new SCH-V960 slider phone has an optical sensor over which you just hover your finger to control the movement. The optical sensor controls a cursor on the screen, probably similar to the cursor on the Nokia Nseries or Eseries Web Browser cursor.
The V960 is a CDMA 2000 1X EVDO mobile phone with a 2.12-inch QVGA (240x320) color TFT LCD, a 2 megapixel digital camera, a GPS receiver, MP3 playback support, Music on Demand (MOD), Video on Demand (VOD), a document viewer, microSD/TransFlash memory card support, Bluetooth and USB. The V960 also has an illumination sensor that offers 'Smart Lighting', i.e. automatic adjustment of the brightness of the LCD screen based on ambient light.
The V960 is expected to be available by the end of the year in Korea, but there's no price yet.
