Samsung has just launched 3 new entry-level phone models, the E250, X520 and C140, with Mobile Tracker and other security features built-in.
Mobile Tracker is a feature that aids in retrieval of stolen mobile phones. When a phone gets stolen and its SIM card is replaced with a new one, the Mobile Tracker feature automatically sends an SMS to two pre-defined numbers that include the number of the new SIM card and the IMEI number of the handset, with which the phone can be tracked with the help of a service provider.
The phones also include an Emergency SOS Alert feature, which would come in handy in situations of distress. In an emergency, simple four clicks of one pre-defined key (for eg. 'C') launches the feature which sends out a predefined help SMS to up to 10 numbers. Thereafter, the phone goes into emergency mode and accepts calls only from those 10 numbers. The phone can also receive the call automatically without alert, allowing the caller to listen and find out what's happening.
The third feature is Privacy Lock, which locks all the sensitive data on the phone, such as messages and pictures, to prevent misuse in case the phone falls into the wrong hands.
The three phones with these features launched by Samsung are the E250, the X520 and the C140.
