After all that, we were really interested in seeing how our performance tests turned out. The problem here was, should I judge the results I got from the smart capture mode, since that is the main feature of the camera, or the scene modes, which actually use the camera's capabilities to their best extent? I decided to do a mix of both.

The image detail on full size was not exactly what I'd like to see from a 12 megapixel digicam. On a shrunk size the image looks pretty well detailed but on a closer look, I did notice a bit of smudging on the finer aspects. Still, it's practically unnoticeable unless you're majorly into cropping.

Colors were bright and very 'Kodak' — a term I use particularly for saturated happy colors. This is a feature that all Kodak cameras boast. Unfortunately smart capture images shot in low lighting may not come across as 'happy' since it tends to shoot up the ISO levels to keep the images blur-free. Anyways, you can easily avoid that by using a flash in those situations.

The night shot taken using the scene mode was absolutely crisp and clear. It was definitely a lot better than the results I've seen from other cameras in its range.

The V1273 supports video shooting in a high definition 1280x720 resolution (720p), which works pretty well. The frame rate is smooth during playback, but the sharpness is not quite close to really being 'high-def'. Still, its good enough for those quick videos that you'd want to shoot from your home digicam.
