Can you please comment on the processor of Intel core 2 Duo V/s AMD Athlon X2 in terms of performance and energy consumption.

a pc under 25000 is very good but it dosnt say the configuration about the pc i need for amd 64bit dual core processor+m2mnx motherboard+1gb ddr2 ram...this type of configuration u have to suggest
any its pleasure to see ur promo

Hi, thanks to your fine article I've embarked on the ambitious project of building my PC. I've bought the configuration suggested by u with minor variations of monitor, cabinet and speakers due to availability. I'll finish assembling it by tomorrow.
Since I've never assembled a PC before, i have no idea about the initial setting up of the computer once i've assembled it. Once i power it up for the first time do i have to configure a lot of things like BIOS settings etc.? Do i also need to update the BIOS? What else do i need to do before i load the OS?
I apologize for so many queries but i realize that the initial setting up will define the overall performance of my machine, and so i don't want to goof up on that. I shall truly appreciate any advice or instructions from you.

what about building a PC under Rs. 30,000 with an TFT monitor and also ready for directx 10.
I think with the prices of peripherals going south it can be done, with the use of some imagination.

i'm an undergraduate student & planning to buy a pre 20000k pc.the must to be features of the pc are-1>intel pentium D 925,2>samsung dvd writer,3>512mb DDR 2 sd ram,4>80 gb sata hdd.i need no grafix card right now,but may need it in future. plz fill the other hardware requirements,keeping in mind the taxes,within my cost

A good article, but I want to suggest that u try with different combination(in processor, mtrbrd , gpu, etc) as ppl rqrmnt is different so it may really helpful

A good article but I beg to differ on a few points. Especially the cabinet - I have been using an i-Ball Benz cabinet for more than 1.5 years and I'm not satisfied with the quality of this cabinet. This is not particular to my cabinet... These cabinets have a low quality sheet metal which is a bit too thin to make it sturdy enough. I can just hope that i-Ball guys have improved their quality with time.

Also, the Basic Optical Mouse that comes with the keyboard-mouse combo has to be the worst mouse I have ever used. The optical sensor is too buggy and the mouse pointer often jumps to random corners of the screen. It really is very irritating. I returned the mouse to my dealer the very next day. I'd rather use a ball mouse if an optical mouse has to be this buggy!!!

Why you didn't go for core2duo and intel 945 board. It is costing almost same. And more easily available.

i am goin to upgrade my pc for the first time so the r something i wanna ask
1 why have u nt mentioned the prices of sound,graphics and LAN r they included in motherboard or r the free wih processor(u see i dont know because i am new in this field )
2 i know that DVD writers r cheaper than u have mentioned like litescibe writers r just for 1600 u shud mention that
3 i want to know that will this config. run windows vistas with aero without any complications ?
4 i want to suggest that u should also include articals like cpu upgrade for gamers under 15-20000 because i liked the article and if i cut short the prices of monitor mouse etc. then it is just 15k

overall a very good job

I have the M2A-VM HDMI - which is an excellent motherboard. However this board was released very recently and so important BIOS updates (especially regarding display) are still being made. Make sure you download the latest BIOS version from the ASUS website and flash it using the ASUS update utility provided in the Motherboard CD.

I jus got my nu PC assembled a month ago with almost the same configurations,
It costed me around 33K bucks but it has some added things like high memory graphic card and bigger HD etc.........

Its nice thing that ur cumin wid such a useful articles,
It'll surely help many ppl and
take away money from those branded hopeless pc makers :D
