A Budget PC under Rs 20,000

Hard Disk: Seagate 80 GB Parallel-ATA, 7200 RPM (Rs. 2100)

80 GB is big enough to store your office documents , a few thousand songs and a couple of movies. Besides we have also provided you with a dual layer DVD writer, letting you back up as much as 4.7 GB on a 20 rupee DVD disc or 8.5 GB on a 200 rupee dual layered DVD disc.

Optical Drive: Asus DRW-1608P3S 16X DVD Writer (Rs. 2250)

We have rightly balanced the system to fit in a top-of-the-line DVD Writer—the Asus DRW-1608P3S. It’s a multi-drive i.e. along with reading and writing the regular DVD-R and DVD+R discs it can also read and write DVD-RAM discs (mostly used in camcorders). The reason why we choose Asus is that its based on Pioneer’s DVR-111. Pioneer is known to build quality drives that last long.

You'll should have gone for a a64 3000+ venice core..For 3k....Just 200 bucks more...And can easily clocked to 2.4ghz-2.6ghz with the stock cooler...And it would beat the cr*p out of that sempy 2800+ :p ...Only thing is the mobo would have been 500buck more! :p

This thing is great. I bought a pc two years 2.5 years ago and got the following thing in 29000 with two upgrades.
p4 2.4 ghz prescott,
128 mb ram (upgraded to 256)
asus p4bgvmx 845 gv chipset,
3600 watts microtek speakers
dart mouse and svb keyboard
cd-writer (upgraded to combo)
can you tell me the cheapest but godd performing 80gb hdd and the cheapest 512mb mp3 player.

Everything is ok but the prices of g cards and lan have not been mentioned ...If they are added up it comes to a maximum of 24k which alomg with taxes reach 25k.

but i suggest to put in a little more bucks to get amd athlon 64 3000+(939 skt)
get logitech key board and mouse instead (costs nearly same)
a better psu ... May be 400w
and if u have little more to put in get a msi k8n gm2-il
it has better onboard graphics...

Common guys, we could have surely done better on speakers chassis and the psu. A zeb chassis with their 400 w psu would have been better here and logitech's m 20 has a way better sound sound output than the sbs 370

A good pc within the budget. However, nowadays lcd is in vogue you may replce the crt with lcd and hard disc & graphics capacity may be increased. Then what will be the rate. I am definitely interested to purchase one of such.
