We have now taken a step further from building a budget PC to assembling a multimedia PC that will allow you to enjoy digital music and video and play some games occasionally. As compared to our earlier article on building a budget PC, we have replaced our monitor here with a slim LCD that will offer sharp pictures and also upgraded our speaker-set to a good 2.1 system with excellent music playback capabilities.

Its really nice to have something Like this but If we have options where we can choose for more Like there are four processors we can choose and what will be the effect on cost some sort of comaprision will be really good. But this is amzing i will also like to see comments on compatibility issue also.

Can you give any guides where I can give the model names and buy the stuff directly? Most dealers that I came across refuse to even look for the models (CPU, RAM, Motherboard) that you mentioned in the article. They try to hardsell whatever is available with them.

Hello people ,

i read a few comments and personally feel many of you dont know what is a multimedia pc, try to run nfs: carbon on this the graphics will suck and so will the speed.
someone was asking for a pc for graphic designing in 60k budget that also branded dude check out the prices for silicon graphics, i am sure it is out of your budget.
now try and make your own pc assemble it... And do it with intel duo core it will cost around 30k for beginners and around 50-60k for graphic designers but it is going to rock,
the article is spending unnecessary money on speakers keyboard mouse and display i will spend max money on cpu motherboard ram and display cards think about who needs 2800 speakers if you can get 128mb pci express card

Dear jayesh,

really liked the article and the configuration but when i started the process of buying 10 pcs (for my company) with the same configuration, i was told by rashi peripherals (asus distributor for india) that the board is outdated and not available to whole of india since last few months.

shocking !... It was also shocked. These people manipulate the market and technology according to their greed level as they are more keen on selling socket am2 processors.

i hope its not a joint effort of rashi & asus to vanish the boards from market. Does asus have any rivalry with nvidia. I think amd has, as they have recently take over ati. And amd is pushing asus not to make boards with nvidia chipset .. Techno-gossip ;-)

i wish life could have been a bit easier in india.

Article is great. I want to assemble it myself, but when i checked out prices on ebay, the difference seems huge, to what you have mentioned. Can you suggest a dealer in bangalore, where i can buy this configuration and the same price.
Prasad N, Bangalore @ Nov 17, 2006
It is excellent that you have given such a break up. But one thing which is missing is how to assemble such components to make a working computer. If you go to a vendor with this list, you may or may not get the same thing. Can you tell us on how the assembling part is done.

Excelent work & good refresher for a hobby pc assembler like me.

Hello! I am a 3d animation student and i work on the software maya 7.0.I require a high end graphic pc (as it takes lot of time to get a quick output in a multimedia pc) within a budget of 60,000 and i prefer a branded pc over a assembled one.Could u help me out in this regard?
Rohit Jain,Hyderabad @ Nov 15, 2006
Thanks a lot for giving such an exhaustive and detailed list for making a multimedia pc for under 30k. Like your earlier reviews this too is as good.

if you can make a separate subject under your pc's and laptops list, of the places/shops from where we can procure these components and that too original,it wll be a boon for a layman. As piracy is rampant among pc components,a layman cannot depend on computer assemblers these days. The list can be divided according to the different zones of the country. So that everybody from india can benefit.

thanks once again for such an exhaustive review

Please don;t ever buy asus motherboards. They are now same as mercury or other cheap co's. The best option is msi boards. They are best availble in india today. I bought 3 asus boards of the same make and all are faulty after 1.5 years. So take care......\r\n\r\nps: 13 years experince in computers and accessories
