Sony MDR Q 21
How can someone like Sony not be involved in a headphone shootout? The company that created the Walkman was the company that made moving audio famous.
Sony's earphones are constantly moving with the times. These ones we got are supra-aural ones like the Sennheisers, though these are pegged on to the ears using ear clips. They feel a little awkward at first, as the plastic material is not as cool as the Koss.
The Koss and Sony are quite different in physical design; this one is very light. The clips are attached to the ear phone frames by a spring joint that can be pushed outwards to attach to the ear. They snap back into place well.
The wire connection is different, as one single wire from the left goes out as the EP jack, while another separate shorter one connects the right earphone; this one is supposed to come from behind the neck. The external plastic frame is a lustrous silvery plastic with a plastic transparent cap covering it (which looks tacky, I feel).
Soundwise, these phones are okay, and sort of in-between as far as quality goes. The frequency response is good enough, the detail is better than average, and the bass is okay. The foam covering the earphones is again perishable; how fast this happens depends on the severity of use.
Overall a nice pair, though the comfort level is a bit debatable as the ear clips are not of the best design.
